Repeated email compromises under their last provider. Zero since switching to us.
The situation
A supplier that had been burned — more than once.
This 25-person parts supplier in Elkhart had been dealing with a problem their previous IT provider never solved: repeated business email compromise incidents. Each one damaged their reputation with clients, vendors, and partners who received malicious emails from what looked like a trusted source.
By the time they came to 574 Technologies, the email compromise history was one of several reasons they were done with their old provider. They needed an IT partner who would actually fix the problem — not just respond to incidents after the fact.
The problem
Email compromise doesn't just cost you data — it costs you trust.
Business email compromise is one of the most damaging things that can happen to an SMB, and not just for the obvious reasons. When a hijacked account sends phishing emails to your clients and vendors, they're not just getting spam — they're getting it from you. From an address they trust. That association is hard to shake even after the incident is resolved.
For a parts supplier whose business runs on relationships with manufacturers, clients, and vendors across the region, having that happen repeatedly wasn't just a security problem. It was a credibility problem. And it was entirely preventable with the right controls in place.
What we did
Deployed our standard security baseline — the one every client gets.
When this client onboarded, we implemented the same security foundation we recommend for every business we manage. That includes identity threat detection built into their Microsoft 365 environment — a system that monitors for the behavioral signals of a compromised account and automatically isolates it before the attacker can use it to do damage.
We also overhauled their email security filtering. The goal was to intercept compromise attempts at the point of entry — before a malicious email even reaches an inbox — rather than waiting until an account is already in an attacker's hands. Layered filtering, anti-spoofing controls, and link protection work together to stop the most common attack methods before they have a chance to succeed.
Neither of these tools is exotic or expensive. They're the baseline every business should have. The previous provider just never put them in place.
The result
Two years in. Zero compromises that got through.
In two years with 574 Technologies, this client has had zero business email compromise incidents that resulted in spread. That doesn't mean nobody tried — the monitoring systems have flagged and handled potential threats during that time. It means the controls worked, every time, before anything reached their clients or vendors.
The reputation damage that had been accumulating under their previous provider stopped. Their contacts receive emails from this company knowing they're legitimate. That's exactly what should have been true all along.
We were dealing with email compromise issues constantly with our last IT company and it was embarrassing. Since switching to 574 Technologies we haven't had a single incident get through. It's one of those things you don't realize how much it was affecting you until it stops happening.
