The situation

An 80-person manufacturer with a single internal IT person and a revolving door.

This Elkhart manufacturer has an internal IT staff member who handles day-to-day support for the business. That setup works well for a company their size — until you factor in the turnover. Manufacturing businesses often see higher-than-average employee churn, and every departure and new hire means a computer needs to be wiped, reconfigured, and handed off to the next person.

With 80 employees, that's not an occasional inconvenience. It's a recurring time drain that was pulling their IT person away from everything else on their plate.

The problem

Manual PC rebuilds every time someone new started.

Every time a computer needed to be repurposed for a new employee, someone had to sit down and do it by hand — wiping the machine, reinstalling the right applications, applying the right settings, and making sure it was ready to go before the new hire's first day. On a good week that's a few hours of careful, repetitive work. During a busy stretch of turnover it becomes a real problem.

Beyond the time cost, manual setups introduce inconsistency. Different apps, different configurations, different security settings depending on who built the machine and how rushed they were. For a business that needs every workstation set up the same way, that variability is a quiet risk.

What we did

Configured Intune — a tool they were already paying for.

Like most businesses on Microsoft 365 Business Premium, this client already had access to Microsoft Intune as part of their subscription. They just had never set it up. We came in, configured their Intune environment, and built out the deployment profiles they needed: applications pushed automatically, security baselines applied consistently, everything configured the way it should be from the moment a device comes online.

Now when a computer needs to be repurposed for a new employee, the process is straightforward. The IT person initiates a reset through Intune, the machine wipes itself, and it comes back up fully configured — the right apps installed, the right settings applied, ready to hand to the next person. No manual steps, no variation, no hours of babysitting the process.

We also walked their internal IT person through how it all works so they can manage it confidently on their own going forward. The goal was to hand them a system, not a dependency.

The result

Their IT person can finally focus on the work that actually needs them.

The time that was going into manual PC rebuilds is now going into everything else. When your only IT resource is spending a significant chunk of their week on repetitive setup tasks, that's time not spent on the problems that actually require human judgment — troubleshooting, planning, supporting the team. Automating the repeatable work gives that time back.

And because every machine is now set up from the same Intune profile, there's no more variation in how workstations are configured. Security baselines are consistent across the fleet. Applications are deployed the same way every time. It's a better outcome than manual setup produces even when everything goes perfectly.

We had no idea Intune was already included in what we were paying for. Once 574 Technologies set it up, resetting a PC for a new hire went from a half-day project to something we barely have to think about. Our IT person actually has time to get other things done now.
